In 2011, The Hall of the Gowanus began the Gowanus Archive for the benefit of all those interested in the past and future of the Gowanus Canal; the material available online is a small portion of what has been accumulated. Visit us to access 66 gigabytes of maps, GIS data, reports, and historical primary sources accumulated by the community. Perhaps in your perusing, you will meet Gowanda, the Gowanus Seal who did her own research in the Canal in July 2003 and lived to tell the tale.
Although we provide full access to the archive, it is a work-in-progress. To copy any material, please bring a laptop.
The material provided online is powered through Issuu, a publication website that allows viewing, searching (when possible) and downloading of material. Please note: to download, an Issuu account is necessary. Content within the documents are varied and an overlap may occur.
